PROBIOTICS: For good gut health

Enterococcus faecium and Lactobacillus acidophilus are often on the ingredient panels of dry dog food sold in pet stores and vets and are commonly marketed as special “Digestive Care” formulas. So why include probiotics in a premium dog food sold in supermarkets? Well, we reckon dog lovers should have access to the best nutrition wherever they shop. 🛒

In a nutshell, Enterococcus faecium and Lactobacillus acidophilus are probiotics, or the good bacteria naturally found in the flora of animals and humans in our intestines. Good gut health is one of the most critical factors for overall well-being. 🌱

We include these probiotics in Kiwi Country because they:

🐶 Aid digestion, prevent diarrhoea, constipation and manage weight. An optimal balance of good bacteria will help maintain a healthy gut environment.

🐶 Alleviate anxiety caused by an upset stomach. An unwell dog often shows changes in behaviour. Sickness can lead to excessive licking and irritability. If their overall health is supported through maintaining a healthy gut, your dog will be less likely to develop stressed behaviours.

🐶 Allow safe diet changes. If your dog has been eating a particular food for a long time they may suffer from an upset stomach when you switch to another food. However, if the new food includes Enterococcus faecium and Lactobacillus acidophilus there is a good chance they will not experience a distressed gut.

🐶 Boost immune systems and improve quality of life for senior dogs. One of the effects of aging is a weakened immune system and up to 70% of the immune system is housed in the gut. Keeping their gut in good condition is one of the best ways of maintaining a robust immune system.

🐶 Promote better skin, coat and dental health. An imbalance of bacteria in the stomach is one of the leading causes of skin allergies, as gut health and a robust immune system are closely related. By improving your dog’s gut, you can reduce their susceptibility to skin allergies, resulting in better skin and coat. Probiotics like Enterococcus faecium and Lactobacillus acidophilus also support dental health by reducing bad bacteria.

Thanks for reading, hopefully we have given you another reason to check out the ingredient panel on your dog’s food.
